Electrolyte minerals are calcium, magnesium, potassium and salt. Along with other nutrients, they are absorbed in the ascending and transverse colon.
Electrolytes are absorbed from the feces in the ascending and transverse colon, BEFORE the solid matter moves into the last part of the large intestine.
Little if any mineral absorption takes place in the descending colon.
Here is a beautiful illustration of the anatomical details (new window opens). Just move windows side by side. As I explain, you can follow along and see exactly what I am describing.
The ascending colon is the first part of the large intestine from the ilioceceal valve of the end of the small intestine to the hepatic flexure (on the right side of the body under the liver). The hepatic flexure is where the ascending colon turns to horizontally cross your body under the ribcage. This horizontal part of the colon is called the transverse colon.
The transverse part of the colon then sharply turns down toward the rectal area. The turn is called the 'splenic flexure' because it is right under where your spleen is located. After the turn, is the descending colon.
The descending colon leads to the sigmoid colon, at the end of which is the rectum. The liquid of an enema enters the sigmoid colon and almost never goes beyond the splenic flexure into the transverse colon.
Electrolyte mineral absorption is not compromised by proper use of coffee enemas because minerals are absorbed ABOVE the descending colon where the enema is retained.
I have not been able to find a single instance of death caused by a coffee enema. References given by conventional sources discouraging this therapy are opinions, not real research.
This being said, use common sense should you choose to explore coffee enema therapy. Do not do the procedure more than once a day unless you are under the care of a qualified doctor who is conversant with Gerson Cancer treatment protocols and similar regimens.
Terminal cancer patients under medical supervision HAVE to do a coffee enema every few hours to dump huge amounts of extremely toxic waste. This is because cancers are LOADED with poisons that need to be immediately eliminated as the tumors break down during treatment. Otherwise the toxins entering the bloodstream to be eliminated would overwhelm and kill the patient.
NOTE: To put things in perspective, people have died from drinking too much water, but I could not find an instance of someone dying from doing a coffee enema! One instance of death from too much water was a marathon runner (running 26.2 miles depletes mineral reserves; drinking too much water compounds that).
Fresh, raw vegetable juices help to replenish electrolytes and many other nutrients.
If you are really serious about detoxification to achieve Peak Health, you might want to consider the queen of all super green foods and find out how to use it to maximize your coffee enema experience!
There IS a danger of electrolyte depletion if you overuse coffee enemas by doing them too much, simply because of large amounts of fluid absorbed by the colon. Since water is a solvent, it can wash out valuable minerals just as it does if you drink too much. (By the way, the idea of drinking 8 glasses of water a day in addition to fresh juices and tea, etc. is NOT necessarily a good idea for this very reason)!
Because for most people this constitutes an excess amount of water which will carry vital nutrients out of the body and dilute digestive juices such as hydrochloric acid needed to digest minerals and proteins. This is a much more pervasive problem than coffee enema dangers.
Pay attention to your body. Any symptoms like heart palpitations are a sign to back off. **This site is for education only. Consult with your doctor.**
Heart palpitations occurred during the time I was becoming mercury poisoned, and especially after my holistic MD's made a serious mistake in my detox treatment.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that once I gave up on doctors and developed my own protocol, symptoms would appear as the mercury made its way out of my body.
Heart palpitations made me wonder if coffee enema dangers were at fault. For a period of time, they became more intense and frequent, scaring me on a few occasions. **Always seek medical attention if you experience such symptoms.** But I would lie down, curl up, massage my chest and abdomen and they would go away.
I realized that the toxins released by the coffee enema triggered the palpitations. By eating some fiber like an apple or some greens 30 - 60 minutes before the therapy, then having a large glass of vegetable juice after, the toxins are carried safely out of my body.
Detoxification is a long and gradual process, and symptoms may come and go along the way.
Here is a GREAT Way to Minimize Any 'Retox Symptoms' Like Heart Palpitations!
How to make sure you do NOT reabsorb toxins from bile released during coffee enema...
30 minutes before inserting the coffee, take the very BEST Chlorella!
IMPORTANT: Use Chlorella Vulgaris if your digestion is sensitive. Otherwise, Chlorella Pyrenoidosa is best, since it has twice the binding power of Chlorella Vulgaris.
Drink a full glass of water with the Chlorella. I like to chew the tablets and rinse down with water - they taste good - and absorb faster when chewed.
From extensive personal experience, I can assure you this is a great way to make sure to NOT have side effects from reabsorbing any toxins.
The nerve endings in the porous walls of the small intestine strongly attract mercury and other heavy metals. This makes it essential to bind them.
Chlorella is a great adjunct to coffee enema!
One of the most cited coffee enema dangers is hot coffee...
This poor excuse to discredit a proven natural therapy is the last refuge of a detractor with nothing more scientific to say against coffee enemas!
The tissues around the rectum and of course the internal tissues lining the colon, are thin, porous and more easy to damage than your skin. Also, once you insert an enema tip more than 3/4 inch deep inside the rectum, there are less nerve endings. Therefore, it IS possible to inject too-hot liquid and not know it right away.
Solution: to totally avoid any problem, ALWAYS test EVERY batch of any liquid you use for an enema or colema.
With your hand. Keep fingers or hand immersed in the liquid for at least 5 seconds. It should feel mildly warm, not at all hot.
This is another hazard that is overplayed in an attempt to create fears of coffee enema dangers. Again, with careful and conscious attention, obvious potential hazards are avoided.
Use appropriate equipment; only rounded enema tips meant to be inserted in the rectum.
Always move extra slowly when inserting any kind of enema tip. NEVER use more than a very gentle push to insert the tip, and go very slowly, paying careful attention.
In addition, use plenty of lubrication both on the outer tissues of the rectum and on the enema tip. These measures will make your experience easy and safe.
No need to fear coffee enema dangers when you use care and common sense.
"In over 29 years of practice, I have not seen important negative effects of coffee enemas at all."- Lawrence Wilson, MD
"I’ve been using them for 14 years with only one effect: I felt better from the first one I did."I’ve never looked back and I feel great when I do them. All the terrible things that are supposed to happen don’t happen.
Coffee enemas don’t destroy bowel function or wipe out your intestinal flora, but what they do is help the liver work better."They are extremely powerful, one of the most powerful detox procedures that we use. My whole staff does them. They just feel better when they do."- the late Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, New York City cancer doctor and researcher
One of the most common coffee enema dangers is the use of commercially grown beans. Besides the fact that commercial brands are grown in a way that strips natural vegetation, the toxic sprays are reason enough not to use them.
Don't EVER be tempted to use conventional coffee for an enema!
** Not only is conventional non-sustainably grown coffee dangerous for enema use; it endangers sensitive, biologically diverse ecosystems. In addition, workers in the less-developed countries where coffee is grown are less likely to be well informed about chemical dangers AND commonly are not provided with protective gear.
Add to this the fact that in these countries, chemicals deemed most hazardous and banned or strictly regulated in the U.S. or Europe are still used in commercial coffee growing operations.
Here are a few examples of such chemicals:
Dursban (generic name Chlorpyrifos): Broad spectrum organophosphate that has caused human deaths and is linked to birth defects.
It kills on contact and is EXTREMELY toxic to birds, bees, aquatic life in ocean and stream and other wildlife. It accumulates in body tissues and does reproductive damage.
Thiodan (generic name Endosulfan): Neurotoxin (damages the central nervous system). Has been shown to cause kidney, liver and testicular damage in animals.
Methyl parathion: Organophosphate, one of the most toxic pesticides. Extremely toxic to birds, animals and fish. Persists in the soil and bioaccumulates.
It is misused without regard to safety in Central America and other developing countries. One of several coffee crop insecticides classified as EXTREMELY dangerous by the World Health Organization!
By introducing this toxic brew into the sigmoid colon, the absorption of chemical sprays is magnified. It directly impacts the liver, entering the bloodstream very fast. Remember, it is unsafe to use conventionally grown coffee for enemas!
Xenelplex: Easy, VERY quick, convenient and EFFECTIVE alternative to traditional coffee enema!
