Body Awareness is one of the most empowering skills you can develop for the purpose of achieving and maintaining Peak Health.
What do I mean by 'body awareness?' It is the ability to tune in to fine nuances of physical sensation. The more you develop this ability, the more empowered you can become to make intelligent decisions about your health protocol.
The capacity to feel is VITALLY important in healing.
Because without it, you are totally dependent on someone else to tell you what you need to heal. With it, YOU are in the driver's seat. YOU gain certainty to say yes, I need this and no, I don't want that.
ANYTHING can 'look good on paper.' Any therapy, food, pharmaceutical or supplement can be described in the most persuasive manner, complete with real or fake 'certificates of analysis,' research study results (never mind that the interpretation of the numbers is opposite of what they really showed), etc.
Even the best food or supplement may be wrong for you at some particular time. The more you can feel your body, the greater the chance you will choose the right thing, or at least know that some product is not right for you right now.
Body Awareness is direct communication between you and your body.
The purpose of practicing Body Awareness is to foster an alignment between your thinking, feeling and willing - your head, heart and gut (as in 'gut feelings').
Body awareness is a lifetime pursuit for those resolved to be Independently Healthy.
Body awareness - and how you interpret its messages - is not perfect (though it becomes more and more reliable with practice).
The one thing I can assure you is the more you nurture this capacity, the better the choices you can make.
I want to make sure you understand that I am not suggesting that you never ask your doctor or health practitioner for input. Ask away - just know that choosing the right thing is not just an intellectual exercise; it is a collaboration between body, feeling and thinking.
Feeling is an integral part of healing.
The articles in this section give you various ways to empower yourself through body awareness. Some of the ideas I share are not only simple, but pleasurable. The only challenge there is - How much time and enjoyment are you willing to give yourself?
Other aspects of opening to feeling require a little more will and persistence. As I add to this important area of my site, you will find much to choose from. Always remember, all the little things you do on a regular basis add up!
