This nutritional supplements side effects discussion will provide some general guidelines. Perhaps you have already experienced a niacin flush or other physical manifestations triggered by compounds such as vitamins, minerals, herbs or amino acids.

First, I should say a word about safety. According to exhaustive research investigating 20+ years of CDC (Centers for Disease Control) records of every incident related to all manner of vitamins, minerals, herbs and amino acids, Dr. Andrew Saul and his team found NOT ONE death attributable to intake of ANY product containing ANY of those compounds.

That said, I would still urge you to always buy the very BEST products, produced by companies that are fanatical about quality raw materials, freshness, potency and purity.

Effects vs. Herxheimer Reaction

Herxheimer reaction is basically mobilizing toxins out of tissues and into the bloodstream faster than your body is able to eliminate them. This can lead to such discomfort as headache, fatigue, nervous agitation, aches and pains, heart palpitations etc. because toxins floating around in the bloodstream trigger an emergency response from the body.

True Nutritional Supplement
Side Effects

True nutritional supplement side effects simply are a sign that you are taking a fresh, pure, potent compound that is doing what it is supposed to do.

The vast majority (over 99%) of supplements are poor quality. Commonly, they contain contaminants because the raw materials 1) are from labs that make good money on cheap compounds 2) compounds are not independently lab-tested by the company that creates the product, OR have Certificate of Analysis from a QUALIFIED lab.

This means that a person taking such products may experience discomfort from a contaminant rather than the vitamin, mineral or other compound.

EVERY fly-by-night company out there will regale you with propaganda asserting they are unique in excellence. Don't you believe it!

Examples of Beneficial Reactions

As examples to illustrate nutritional supplement side effects that show a supplement to be doing what it is supposed to do, we will discuss 'niacin flush,' and what I like to call 'nitric oxide rush.'

Niacin Flush: If you buy a niacin supplement and do NOT get some reaction, you likely have bought a product that is a dud!

Years ago, I bought a generic brand of niacin from Whole Foods. The Whole Foods brand did not produce ANY effect - no matter how high I raised the dose. BAD PRODUCT!

Niacin is a vitamin that leaves no doubt as to its potency. When it is the real deal, you get the famous 'niacin flush.' This can range from a pleasant tingly sensation with minor itch, to major tingling, itchiness and deep pink/red flush of the skin.

Some folks will say they 'can't stand' a niacin flush - fine, that is up to them - however it is a a manifestation of benefits in action!

Note that even a major niacin flush diminishes and goes away in 15 - 30 minutes, commonly having benefits such as increased volume of circulation throughout body as well as histamine release (which causes the redness and itch). For people with allergies, regularly releasing some histamine from the mast cells of the skin can help diminish allergic reactions.

'Nitric Oxide rush': when you take a product such as Vas-cu-Care, Medicardium EDTA or Pycnogenol, which increases NO (nitric oxide), you may as I have, get a clear indication that the product is doing its job.

The 'nitric oxide rush' as I like to call it, brings on a lovely circulatory aliveness, tingling and relaxation. You then KNOW you are getting the benefit promised in the product description.

I find the most adventuresome, proactive customers and coaching clients to be the most willing to FEEL sensation in their body. Real healing tends to involve moving through some sensations and experiences that are not comfortable. It also involves feeling MORE of our natural body sensations - enhanced circulation, deeper emotion, etc.

'How much aliveness can you handle?' The answer to this question may be related to how much healing you may achieve.

Be open to the idea that what are called 'nutritional supplement side-effects' may just be nutritional supplement side-BENEFITS!
