The safest, most effective therapies for optimal health!

How to detox heavy metals is a subject you may be totally confused about.
I am revisiting this issue, which I have written about before. This is a more comprehensive view, reflecting my more recent research and experience.
Conventional medical sites and conventional holistic sites (yes, there are LOTS of those, too) offer bland, ineffective recommendations on how to detox heavy metals that do little, nothing or even are counterproductive. We will briefly discuss these below and then offer some solid suggestions.
NOTE: Many sites purporting to offer holistic natural health info are in fact run by corporate entities.
As I peruse countless articles and sites, I am struck by the fact that what is promoted at the top of search results is in many cases the exact opposite of the truth. You can make your own guess as to why that is.
Both mainstream and 'holistic' sites promoting how to detox heavy metals do not go nearly far enough - or go completely in the wrong direction - with their advice.
Suggestions include eating high amounts of fiber, fruit, grains and chlorella. What you are not told is that fiber is an irritant, also carries many nutrients - like minerals - out of the body - before they can be absorbed.
Chlorella and such green foods as 'blue-green algae' are a magnet for any toxins in their environment, especially mercury, lead, aluminum, etc. So there is a very good chance you are ingesting toxins along with your chlorella. (This is one reason I stopped providing it).
Blue-green algae and spirulina naturally contain cyanotoxins (known for having killed dogs who swam in waters containing them).
Other advice is to eat foods like garlic and broccoli for the sulfur content. Please see my plant toxins pages to understand why this is very bad advice.
While sulfur is beneficial, there are safer ways to obtain it. Sulfur is abundant in egg yolks, also in amino acids such as N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine and Glutathione, which should be mentioned in any suggestions for how to detox heavy metals.
Modified apple or citrus pectin is also commonly recommended in a lot of articles on how to detox heavy metals. It is highly ineffective in my experience, yet commonly cited on conventional sites.
Apple and citrus pectin is simply fiber. Fiber-rich foods such as bran, grains, beans and vegetables are also highly recommended by sites that do not give effective advice. Fiber in any form is an irritant to the gut (which is why people with IBS - irritable bowel syndrome - are advised to cut way down on it).
'Excess ingestion of fiber products, including pectin, may have side effects, including bloating, diarrhea, decrease in appetite, and mineral depletion.' (1)
'Pectin may cause bloating and gas in your intestinal tract, which may lead to discomfort and abdominal pain. The fiber in pectin does not get digested and absorbed because of the natural absence of the necessary enzymes that break down fiber in your small intestine. The build up of fiber in your small and large intestines can create hydrogen and carbon dioxide gases. These gases can lead to the bloating and abdominal pain you feel when you need to pass gas.' (2)
Since mercury, aluminum and other poisons irritate the gut lining - why would it make sense to add yet another irritant - an abundance of fiber?
Now for some constructive suggestions...
An important part of how to detox heavy metals is to cut down on high oxalate foods with a view toward totally eliminating them.
Oxalic acid binds to toxic metals, forming crystals of various shapes which literally rip one's tissues apart on a microscopic level. It also KEEPS mercury, lead, etc. from being removed - driving the toxic, sharp-edged nano and mocro-particles deep INTO body tissues such as liver, kidneys, brain, joints and so on - doing untold harm.
Oxalates are becoming more well known of late for causing a host of serious health issues both chronic and acute, including thyroid dysfunction, kidney failure, and cancer.
ALL plant foods contain oxalates. Foods containing the highest amount of oxalic acid are the ones most promoted as healthy. They include:
Almonds, peanuts and cashews
Beets and beet greens
Pumpkin, chia, poppy and hemp seeds
Soy in any form
ALL beans, especially kidney and black beans
'Superfoods' such as green tea, astragalus, tumeric and other spices
Among fruits, kiwi and starfruit very high - also all berries
Very important in how to detox heavy metals is to cut down ALL carbs.
Carbohydrates are a major cause of inflammation. So are heavy metals. Why would you want to add to the inflammatory torment inflicted by mercury, aluminum, etc. by eating processed foods, grains, fruits, nuts and vegetables?
Cutting carbs will ease healing by reducing painful inflammation.
Support cellular rebuilding with healthy animal fats and proteins. Add more pasture-raised raw dairy, eggs and meat to your diet and keep lowering all else - you may be surprised at the results.
Fats from pasture-raised animals, including raw full or high fat dairy, egg yolks and fats from beef and lamb, nourish your nervous system, keep cell membranes strong and provide even-keel energy. NOTE: Plant fats from seed oils, nuts, seeds and other plant foods is actually bad for you.
Protein from grass-fed livestock is rich in amino acids, which are vital for ALL body functions and repair.
Some people go 'cold turkey' - but this is the tough way to go - a gradual (but decisive) shift is usually easier. That's how I did it - as I kept listening to my body, my natural direction evolved. Now I am plant-free, which has been hugely beneficial. My customers and consulting clients report similar results.
How to detox heavy metals: take an excellent probiotic. Candida / yeast grows in our bodies as an effort to sequester mercury, lead, etc.
As you progress in taking measures to help your body more effectively eliminate mercury, aluminum, lead, etc., probiotics will protect you from the excessive amount of yeast in your body. During a cleanse, the yeast either die or turn against you and attack body tissues. Probiotics (assuming they are of highest quality) are a 'microbial army' that fights and kills candida and other yeast and fungi.
Coffee enemas, especially with added Glutathione, are a boon to virtually any cleansing protocol.
Part of how to detox heavy metals is to deal with yeast overgrowth and die-off. One of many Glutathione benefits is to get rid of mold and yeast. As well, Glutathione helps your body eliminate many chemicals and other poisons. This lightens the toxic burden, supporting the cleansing process.
How to detox heavy metals - use oral supplements that both CLEANSE and REPAIR your body. Amino Acids to the rescue!
Not only are many of them excellent chelators - they ALSO are highly effective for tissue repair throughout your body! So you get cleansing and repair capabilities all in one.
In addition, Amino Acids are a more gentle form of detox than many other methods. If oral supplementation is challenging for you, adding Amino Acids to your coffee enemas is beneficial in similar ways to a $200.00 nutrient IV in a doctor's office.

All toxins are a stress - in addition to all the other damage they do, is that done to the mitochondria.
