The safest, most effective therapies for optimal health!

Why do people take supplements?
Here, we cover the best reasons for adding nutritional formulas to your self-care protocol - as well as those that don't make sense from a natural healing perspective.
Please note that I have done many of the inefficient, mistaken approaches talked about below (that is why I know what they are). If you are still doing any of these things, rest assured you are in good company!
If you are like most of my readers, customers and coaching clients, you are proactively engaged in a multi-faceted self-care program. Even so, if you are anxious to heal, you may still be tempted to look for a single product that will make it happen. If you are new to understanding how best to use nutritional products, this article will get you pointed in the right direction.
Allopathic (conventional medical) thinking is not aligned with natural healing. It lies at the root of many reasons people may use nutritional products in a way that fails to promote real and lasting health.
In conventional medicine, the latest drug or procedure is touted as a cure - 'just do this and you will be all better.' Misleading ads for natural products do the same - offering bogus 'proof.'
Why do people take supplements? In conversations with customers, I find some of them are looking for ONE, maybe two products that will 'do it' - that will 'cure' whatever ails them. This is what they have come to expect through their experience with allopathic medicine and mass media. They want something to make the pain, inconvenience and limitations of their condition just go away - a one-shot deal. They believe that once 'cured,' they should never have to think about the health issue again.
So a lot of customer questions revolve around 'which product should I take for my --- fill-in-the-blank?'
Why do people take supplements - one reason is LOTS of favorable reviews that appear on Amazon, on sites of distributors, and/or on the website of the product manufacturer.
Due to the cutthroat competition among companies, you cannot trust all those 5-star reviews.
1 - Many companies offer buyers free products IF they post a favorable review! Bribe.
2 - Many companies HIRE goons to go online and praise their product, bash a competitor - or both!
Reviews only have as much integrity as the people posting them - and unfortunately the integrity quotient is rather low these days.
Why do people take supplements? Those anxious to holistically solve a persistent and seemingly intractable health problem look for natural products that won't do harm, rather than drugs. So they are thinking in the right direction - BUT without a real plan based in knowledge of body structure and function.
Developing a plan using vitamins / minerals / amino acids, etc. works best when a protocol with a progressive sequence is laid out.
From many consultations with coaching clients, I found that in their search for healing, they had accumulated a rather unwieldy, disorganized, and expensive collection of formulas - each one of which they were hoping was 'the ONE.' Commonly, there are several of the same kinds of products as an attempt to find a better brand that 'works.'
This ineffective approach costs heavily in time, money and additional suffering due to lack of results over time. When this, that or the other formula did not 'work,' the person then stopped using it and bought another - and another.
Unfortunately, the perception of what kind of results show that a product 'works,' and how fast they happen is often wrong.
Commonly, the the product was considered unworthy if it did not make them feel better in a week or two. Exceptional nutritional formulas sometimes yield fast results - but usually, healing proceeds more slowly.
Holistic means 'thinking globally rather than locally' and thinking long-term as well as short-term. That means every supportive thing you do should increase benefit of everything else you do - in a sequence that makes sense to your body. This way, you won't lose lots of money and precious time on a haphazard quest.
Why do people take supplements - other than those who use them to maintain or increase health? Commonly, it is to resolve bodily discomfort that has not been helped by other means. Also, perhaps because a medical diagnosis ignited fear.
Some people have done all the conventional protocols first and damaged their bodies by using such methods. When they run out of options, many conventional-minded people turn to nutrition and other holistic options. But they now want a quick fix - and now have to heal damage done by previous treatments as well. This is unrealistic. Natural healing takes TIME!
I understand that when you have a health issue that other things have not helped, have long-standing discomfort or a worsening condition - you want it to be gone - yesterday, not tomorrow!
Unlike conventional drugs, nutrients do not mask symptoms or make them appear to go away by interfering with some essential body process.
Natural, truly holistic protocols support the amazing, complex body functions that do the healing - the gradual, sure way.
Why do people take supplements for the right reasons?
My healthiest, happiest customers use nutritional formulas to increase and maintain health and vitality on a long-term basis - on top of an already robust self-care program. They know that heightened enjoyment of life is one of the benefits of excellent health. This is the fuel that drives the desire to fine-tune their protocol.
Don Tyson, my mentor at Montiff nutraceuticals said to me early on - 'To be optimally healthy, you have to be hard core all the way.'
To accomplish real healing in the face of a challenge requires support of all body systems, overhauling your self-care program and staying the course. If you can embrace this approach, you will make better choices.
My motto is, 'Miracles can happen when you add just the right product to the firm foundation of a solid, comprehensive protocol.' A strong foundation is the preparation needed for that ONE product to 'work.'
Your body is an amazing, complex living wonder. It wants to heal. It has the interconnectedness and innate wisdom to accomplish the seemingly impossible.
If you ask 'why do people take supplements,' the best reason is to support your body in expressing its innate wisdom so you can enjoy your fullest potential!
