Raw whey supplement scams were not a concept for me until I engaged in a determined quest to find the best.

Articles I'd read spoke highly of its ability to help healing, energy and muscle-building. Amino acids, growth factors and other compounds contained in whey are powerful for growth and repair of our bodies.

I spent hours searching for 'raw whey supplements.' Several brands showed up, claiming low heat processes that preserved the renowned healing qualities, especially the delicate growth factors. Freeze drying was one of the processes described.

I was excited to find raw whey in powder form. Not only would it make a great storable food with a shelf life of several years - I also could provide it for customers once I found the very BEST one!

My next step was to spend many hours reading reviews of brands that looked the most promising. I found lots of complaints about taste, smell, texture, digestion issues and difficulty of getting product to mix smoothly with water or other liquids.

Raw whey supplement scams became a reality in my mind at this point.

Some reviewers said that companies had offered free product for positive reviews!

Raw Whey Supplement Scams: the Labels

Raw whey supplement scams soon became obvious as I inspected the labeling used on the products. The small print revealed that the whey was pasteurized before it was freeze-dried! The 'raw' claim was a lie!

Some brands noted the whey was 'flash-pasteurized,' implying it is a gentle process that preserves the delicate factors in whey. That's false - proven by research.

There were also claims that the cows were 'grass-fed' which does not necessarily mean what WE would envision - living their entire life on lush green pasture. (See my article on grass-fed scams).

One other thing I found was that nearly all these products had been de-fatted - the fat removed. That means some vital nutrition has been taken out.

A couple of brands that sounded great did not show label info, and also had more than one raw whey supplement formula. So I emailed them the following:

"I am looking for a quality whey powder that is made from milk / whey that has not been heated over 102 degrees or 'flash-pasteurized.' I have found legitimate research asserting that 'flash pasteurization' degrades delicate growth factors.

"Would appreciate your input on this - in most products that say 'cold-processed' the milk was originally heat treated and I'm looking for one that isn't, thanks!"

No response!

Raw Whey Supplement Scams: One Brand...

Raw whey supplement scams seemed ubiquitous.

I was about to give up when I finally found one brand that seemed an outlier - one that was developed by a man passionate to create a superior product. I called and actually had a great conversation with him.

He said that although his product was also flash-pasteurized, it still was helping a lot of people, him included (he was an avid mountain-climber). He suggested the best way to take his product was to simply put a teaspoon of the powder into your mouth and let it dissolve. This would enable the nutrients to be absorbed directly into the gum tissues and hence the bloodstream, as well as going into the stomach.

Inspired, I bought one small container to try. I was hoping this was the one exception to raw whey supplement scams. I wanted it to be awesome!

Following the man's suggestion consistently for over a month, my body kept giving me a message not consistent with what he had said. This product had no life to it, much as I wanted it to. No noticeable benefit of any kind resulted from taking it. I finally came to the conclusion that I had just purchased some extremely expensive powdered milk!

So simple - I reflected that whey, after all, is contained in - milk! Raw milk contains whey with all the marvelous growth factors, unaltered amino acids and other compounds! Plus it tastes a whole lot better than heated, dried products that are really raw whey supplement scams.

Just find a local farmer providing raw, truly grass-fed milk and enjoy the whey straight from the cows!
