Inflammation definition: This is a protective response by your body to damage by a host of stressors. It is an immune response that is the body's way of fighting harmful stimuli and healing damage.
This response is triggered by physical injury, emotional stress, pathogens such as viruses, bacteria and fungal infections, x-rays, toxic exposure to chemicals, heavy metal (mercury, lead, cadmium) exposure, etc.
Inflammation definition - what are the symptoms? They include pain, swelling, redness, heat. However, not all of these are noted in every instance.
Prostaglandins increase, stimulating pain receptors in the nerves; this pain signals the body to direct the healing compounds to the affected area(s). Histamines are released, causing dilation of the blood vessels, increasing blood flow to the site of injury. Leucocytes and healing compounds from the blood are directed into the area to heal tissue and fight infection.
Chronically inflamed tissues that can make life miserable are a result of a derangement of normal body response whereby the immune system turns on healthy body tissues.
The protective machanisms of the body are at work when they don't need to be. Joint and muscle pain, fatigue, headache, chills and fever are some of the symptoms. Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue are just two of the associated conditions.
When the immune system responds wrongly by attacking healthy tissues, multiple factors can be in play. They ALL involve stress. Until you discover and remedy the underlying basis for this problem, it will NOT go away - and commonly will worsen. Detoxifying from compounds such as mercury and lead, moving toward a human-appropriate diet, severely minimizing exposure to all manner of toxins (including emotional ones) will go a long way toward helping you feel much better.
An inflammation definition must include the fact that it is a response to ANY kind of stress. Therefore we all have it to some degree.
