Beet juice cleanse is not for the faint of heart.
From my personal experience, I would guess that most people - maybe even you - could more easily contemplate strapping a parachute to your back and jumping out of an airplane than working up to a killer dose of purple rocket fuel. (I mean the 'rocket fuel' part somewhat literally…).
I give my husband credit for getting me in trouble. He was researching beet juice cleanse benefits because I was making beet kvass, and found some interesting (more like evangelical) opinions on this detox protocol as a seeming cure-all for everything.
Supposedly, a properly done protocol would reverse grey hair, totally annihilate all parasites and pathogens, replace all defective and worn-out cells with new cells, get all pesticides out of body, and create perfect beauty of hair, eyes, skin etc. - a tall order for ANY protocol to live up to!
Of course (you know me by now) - the holistic adventurer in me got intrigued. You know, 'the path not taken' - so I jumped in!
As a former vegan and long-time (40 years) consumer of fresh, raw juices, mainly carrot and beet, I have a long familiarity with organic vegetable juicing.
However, my husband (who has never juiced in his life) was so gung-ho that he now hijacked the juicer every single morning.
In a complete role reversal, I found myself standing by the kitchen counter, glass in hand, waiting for my husband to pour the lovingly prepared purple libation.
The claims were quite compelling.
One which caught my eye was that this detox protocol could destroy biofilms throughout the body, particularly in the digestive tract. Biofilms are of particular interest for me - and maybe should be for you, too.
Especially if you have suffered mercury poisoning like me and so many of my coaching clients, or any acute or degenerative disease - or - surgery (antibiotics routinely given), serious dental issues, inordinate stress, etc., biofilms are a concern.
Stress to any part of the body makes tissues more susceptible to inflammation and invasion of microorganisms of many descriptions that feed on us. Biofilms are the protective secretions of multiple species of pathogens. They live in and under this material, which forms an amazingly complex and impenetrable barrier. Biofilms can even protect bacteria from powerful antibiotics for example. This is why, so often, entrenched infections seem to go away when we are medicated just short of death - then come back more fiercely than before once the antibiotics or other drugs are discontinued.
Some say that even just ONE dose of antibiotics so destroys our beneficial gut bacteria and damages our gut, that after that our intestinal walls cannot support beneficial bacteria and become lined with evil pathogens hiding under a slick, impenetrable biofilm. This makes it impossible for probiotic bacteria to take hold. Beet juice cleanse to the rescue!
In relation to the concept of blasting biofilms out of the body, what intrigued me was the idea that beets contain 'saponifying minerals.' Saponifying means they have a natural detergent action (plant saponins are used, for example, in natural soap making). The claim is that saponifying minerals kill all kinds of pathogens, candida, mold, fungus, etc.
The explanation for beet juice cleanse being a biofilm buster is that the saponifying minerals will permeate the entire body and scour biofilms from the circulatory system and all organs and tissues of the body.
Is all of the above true?
I have mixed opinions on this cleanse based on my personal experience, so I am not endorsing it in its entirety. Because beet juice cleanse could show up on your radar at some point, I feel it is of value to offer my own take on it.
