The benefits of cod liver oil include healing tooth decay.
This is a powerful statement to make, however I can assure you it is true. Most importantly, such results only show up when you use the real thing. I can assure you that when this superfood is not made the old-fashioned way, it is NOT the real thing!
Of course, ALL companies providing something they represent as a viable version of this renowned food say theirs is best. The health benefits of cod liver oil are legendary - IF you choose the right one.
Over thirty years ago, I read a book called 'Nutrition and Physical Degeneration,' by Dr. Weston Price. A pioneering dentist, he wanted to find a group of people healthy enough to serve as a 'control group' for the many unhealthy dental patients that came to his office in the States. Sadly, even many decades ago, he could not find people in his practice healthy enough.
Dr. Price's book chronicles his travels to the far ends of the earth to find truly healthy people. He spent years researching the effects of diet on the health of isolated indigenous peoples living on their native foods.
Dr. Price discovered that high quality animal protein and fats are an essential key to constitutional vitality that is sustained from generation to generation. In his extensive travels all over the world, he found NO group of exceptionally healthy people who were vegetarians or vegans.
He also wrote about the precipitous drop in all aspects of health when hale and hearty natives began to partake of processed foods. Within one generation (if a healthy native mother had a baby while eating devitalized foods) the magnificent vitality characteristic of that culture was lacking in the child.
Returning to his dental practice, Dr. Price began applying principles of nutrition he had learned in his travels. Among them was the finding that the use of high-vitamin butter from cows fed on spring grasses significantly enhanced the benefits of cod liver oil of very high quality. He found this combination very helpful in supporting a process not commonly known; the ability of the body to heal tooth decay.
Because we have been programmed to believe that once decay has set in, the only option is tooth surgery (i.e., drilling and filling), the idea that the progression of dental caries can be halted and reversed is beyond our frame of reference. Small cavities can disappear; however, once large amounts of tooth tissue are gone, the tooth cannot regenerate. Rather, the dentin of the tooth can become harder and stronger through a process of re-mineralization.
For me, the above information is not just theory. It is based in experience..!
