Prostate cancer warning signs can be similar to symptoms of prostatitis and other problems. Malignancy in this gland, also called 'adenocarcinoma,' tends not to be as aggressive as many other kinds of cancer. It can be present for years without causing any symptoms.
PHOTO ABOVE: Male prostate anatomy.
Symptoms may only appear once the cancer has spread to areas beyond the prostate gland.
Prostate cancer warning signs can include abnormally frequent urge to urinate, difficulty urinating, less control starting or stopping urination and weak flow of urine. Painful or burning sensations with urination and/or ejaculation, blood in the urine or in semen and incontinence are other symptoms.
The above symptoms can result from less serious causes than cancer. They simply result from swelling of the prostate; BPH (benign prostatic hypertrophy) - swelling of the prostate is the more likely cause; however swelling due to a malignancy is possible also. Your doctor should be consulted to determine the cause of any such symptoms.
Stiffness and pain in the pelvic area, lower back and upper thighs are also said to be possibly associated with prostate cancer which has spread beyond the boundaries of the prostate and invaded the bones of the pelvis. However, that kind of pain also has more than one possible cause.

The subject of prostate cancer warning signs is a tricky one because all these symptoms can exist when there is NO malignancy! In fact most of the time they do NOT indicate the presence of cancer.
Think about this...
The words 'cancer' and 'pre-cancerous' are fear-inducing to most people because cancer is seen as a near death sentence. The other reason these words are frightening is the fear of conventional treatments! It is risky, involves suffering and in many cases the patient is left with lasting damage, assuming they survive.
Chronic fear is one of the most stressful, damaging influences on our immune systems. To call something that is not cancer, 'cancer warning signs' or 'pre-cancerous' engenders fear in most people. This in turn increases cancer risk!
A doctor's comments on fear of cancer: The late Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, NY City cancer doctor who used natural means of reversing cancer, says that 'even the oncologists are deathly afraid of cancer, and that fear gets conveyed to the patient.'
He further states that his first job in helping a person heal from cancer is to ease their fear. He says that when a person is in a chronic fear state, their bodies can't heal, and they also make bad decisions based on fear.
Dr. Gonzalez finds that once the patient knows that others have used natural means to recover, and that there are powerful tools at hand to heal cancer, they feel more relaxed and confident.
In light of what Dr. Gonzalez says about fear, I take issue with one of the newly cited risk factors that can lead to prostate cancer warning signs.
One article from a medical site says, 'Studies have identified several inherited genes that appear to increase prostate cancer risk. Testing for these genes is not yet available. Experts estimate that the hereditary form of prostate cancer accounts for just 5-10% of all cases.' (found at http://www.webmd.com/prostate-cancer/guide/prostate-cancer-risk-factors).
What if someone, especially a medical professional, told you that you have 'the gene for prostate cancer?' How would that make you feel? Doomed? Betrayed by your own body? Defective? Inadequate? All of the above?
Would you then think maybe you should have your children tested for 'cancer genes?' How would that make them feel?
I submit that there IS no such thing as a 'cancer gene,' 'fat gene,' 'happiness or sadness gene' or any other...
The idea that there is a gene for cancer or any other dread disease is not only disempowering, but preposterous!
It creates chronic fear, one of the most corrosive and damaging things to our health.
EPIGENETICS TO THE RESCUE!
Epigenetics is the science of the way changes in DNA sequences occur by activation or deactivation of genes.
Did you know that your DNA is not static, not 'set in stone?' It is protean, continually changing according to the conditions it encounters - INCLUDING HOW YOU TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.
The genes we came into this world with can be modified, turned on or off. If environmental toxins can affect DNA in a way that makes us sick, guess what a fabulous self-care program can do!!??
If you are a person who prefers to be the master of your health rather than a slave to the 'conventional wisdom,' (and I hope that's why you're here), everything I talk about is for you to own the power that rightfully belongs to you.
Here is a great rebuttal for that argument about disease (this is a series of videos over an hour). When you are done watching it, you will know why you don't have to be afraid of being 'genetically predisposed' to cancer or other diseases - AND will have more of a sense of self-empowerment.
This is a very provocative concept - I suggest you put aside some time to hear what this scientist has to say about genetic determinism of disease: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB81L9zGLjE&feature=related (new window)
Age is reputed to be the greatest risk factor. However, a great self-care program and lifestyle can minimize age as a risk factor.
What about other risks?
I agree wholeheartedly with risk factors such as smoking (anything!), drinking alcohol, eating sugar and junk food, stress, environmental toxins, etc.
Real risk factors mostly have to do with your lifestyle, stress level and environment. The great news is, that puts a lot of power in your hands because you can make the needed changes!
Besides consulting with your doctor and having regular prostate examinations, what is your best course of action?
Prevention is the best cure!
Be proactive; make Peak Health a priority!
