The Best Antioxidant Foods and Formulas:
How Do You Choose the Most Powerful Ones?
Best Antioxidant foods and formulas; how do you choose the most powerful and effective ones?
Did you know that the best antioxidants have the capacity to repair years of damage to organs, heart, brain, nerves, bones and many other body tissues?
These compounds protect your cells from damage done by unstable molecules called 'free radicals.' For years, beneficial nutrients such as resveratrol, pycnogenol, beta carotene, lutein, vitamins A, C and E have been recommended to help keep us younger longer.
They have often been suggested for prevention of oxidative damage to blood vessels that is associated with cardiovascular disease, and cellular damage that can make you more prone to malignancies.
When I asked one of my most esteemed mentors, Don Tyson of Montiff, Inc. what he finds to be the most important health issue people should be concerned about, he unhesitatingly answered, 'oxidative stress.'
Best Antioxidant Foods
Photo: Honeycrisp Apples from a local farm that practices Integrated Pest Management.
NOTE: Since apples and some other fruits are subject to molds and other kinds of pests that can be at least as toxic as many chemical sprays (ask anyone who has suffered mold poisoning), often your best option is fruit grown using minimal low-spray Integrated Pest Management methods.
Frankly, I would stay away from ANY conventionally grown fruits and vegetables - or at least eat organic as much as you are able.
Most toxic with pesticides: celery, peaches, apples, grapes, lettuce, blueberries, carrots, pears, cherries
If you have to eat conventional: onions, avocados, asparagus, peas and sweet potato are some of the better vegetables.
To obtain the best antioxidant foods, buy organic or low-spray, preferably from local organic farmsDoing so is good for you, your community and the planet. It confers health benefits for you because buying direct from the grower gives you the freshest food you can get, short of picking vegetables from your own garden.
You get the best antioxidant benefits from the fresher vegetables, fruits, eggs, meat, etc. that you buy locally.
Also, buying from farmers in your area provides financial benefits for your community - and environmental benefits because food is not transported over long distances.
CAUTION: Not all local farmers, of course, use safe farming methods. For example, in my area, there are a few growers of corn who use genetically modified Round-Up Ready seed and the toxic Round-Up weed killer to go with it.
So check out your sources well...
Examples of Free-Radical-Fighting Foods
(Not a complete list - just some examples for you).
Vegetables: Dark leafy greens, carrots, beets, tomatoes.
Eggs: You heard right - the yolks of organic, free-range eggs contain Vitamin A. To get the most benefit, wash shell thoroughly and use in an eggnog recipe. Raw egg yolk also contains a wealth of other nutrients; essential fatty acids, B-Vitamins - even Vitamin E!
Include an abundance of free-radical-fighting nutrients in your diet and supplement protocol to achieve and maintain Peak Health!
